There appears to be a bug in recent nightlies (the last 3-4 days or so) whereby starting Mail/News doesn't prompt for a password for the mail server. This means that clicking Get Messages results in an error that the server refused the connection (as I haven't logged on I guess).
2002-02-15-03 W2K works fine but anything later has the problem. The mail server is on a LAN (as opposed to on the Internet via a dialup). I have tried all the obvious things with the latest nightly: Uninstalled the current version using Add/Remove Programs *and* then deleted the directories and files that get left behind under Program Files\Mozilla so that it is a completely clean install. Created a new user profile *without* copying files from my existing profile. I still have the problem. I can't find anything in Bugzilla about it nor in this NG. Has anyone else seen this? Can anyone suggest a solution? I will add that I d/l new nightlies on this machine 3 or 4 times a week and never have had to create a new profile. Thanks. Regards, Parish
