I was also having a lot of mail crashes from 2002/15/02 thru 2002/19/02.
I submitted a but (with reference to TalkBack), but it was marked a
duplicate of:
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125713
The above bug was fixed, and mail seem pretty stable so far using build
2002022203. So you might try downloading the latest nightly build...
