Seems that mozilla.org have a magic fairy living at the bottom of the
garden; one that sneaks into the CVS Repository in the dead of night and
spirits away bugs!

No, I'm not dabbling with dangerous substances, it appears that
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88367 has been fixed,
despite still being marked NEW and no patches posted.

This is the bug report about the Fixed/Variable font radio buttons in
Preferences->Mail & Newsgroups->Message Display being ignored and the
only way to get plain text messages to display in fixed pitch font is to
check "Allow documents to use other fonts" in
Preferences->Appearance->Fonts.

I can confirm that in Build ID 2002-02-25-03 on W2K and in a CVS build
(also W2K) from 2002-02-27 that this bug has disappeared and these
features work correctly. Someone else has confirmed that this is also
the case in Build 2002021722 on Solaris/SPARC.

Plain text messages (mail and news) are displayed according to the
Fixed/Variable radio button selected and are unaffected by the "Allow
documents to use other fonts" checkbox.

HTML posts honour the state of the "Allow documents...." checkbox
(assuming that the message specifies a different font to your default)
and are unaffected by the Fixed /Variable radio buttons.

Can people confirm (or deny) this on other builds/platforms and post a
comment to the bug?

Note, changing the settings does not cause the currently displayed
message to be redrawn when dismissing the Preferences dialogue, you have
to select another message first.

Regards,

Parish
