I am running .98 on Mandrake Linux (8.1). Computer is a PIII 450 with 512Mb Ram
I have noticed a recurrence of a problem that occurred several versions back. When Mozilla is trying to download a page that is slow to load, it tends to prevent access to any other applications, or make them very, very slow. Movement on a window results in the look of dozens of slightly overlaid windows which suggest that the system just can't handle the screen changes fast enough. Similar behaviour occurs if the mail address lookup in a remote LDAP server is significantly delayed. My impression is that Mozilla is using way too much of the system resources. I suspect I have a way to control this. I don't know what it is (Linux is fairly new to me). Any suggestions? Thanks. John Lederer
