To summerize: At his point it looks like all of the blocking bugs that prevented this in the first place are resolved.
I just read (the massive) http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22687 and (much smaller) http://www.mozilla.org/mailnews/arch/pgp-smime.html Which seems to give pointers to resolve much of the meat around getting this feature in. I'm now digging a bit deeper into GPG to see what it would take on that side to create a plugin but first a look at http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ Thank you for all of your hard work (especially Seth who has his name all over 22687).
