it already does pause/resume for FTP, with servers that support it. however, there seem to be bugs with it still, for example http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128359 doesn't do HTTP resuming yet, but there is an RFE http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98288 -- michael
