 From the Netscape 4.79 Mail & News preferences, Return Receipts section:
<quote>
If I request a receipt when sending a message, I want
  [ ] A delivery receipt from the receiving server [DSN]
  [ ] A read receipt, notifying me when recipients display the message [MDN]
  [ ] Both types of receipt
</quote>

So it supports requesting DSNs as well as MDNs. Additionally, it
supports returning MDNs.
In my experience, most mail servers support responding to DSN requests
and it seems to be the sendmail default. Also, I've found that Netscape
4.7x (linux and Windows), Outlook, Outlook Express, and KMail
(linux/KDE) all support responding to MDN requests (or not, if that's
how you've configured them). I've never tried Eudora for very long, nor
any of the other linux mail clients (KMail meets my needs there).

Regards,
Tim
