Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have tried all of these steps, including
your suggestion in the next message to close netscape (mozilla) before
trying out any settings.

I've tried just about every combination I can think of...Specifying
username, not specifying, checking the "use name and password" box, not
checking it, using ssl always, when availaible, or never. Tried adding
the port in the box, at the end of the server name with a colon, etc.
Tried new profile, old profle, etc.

Since bug 52330 landed, I've tried this many many times each day on more
than 1 machine, but I never get a response from the mail server.

On a side note, I am able to receive mail, and send and receive
newsgroup messages using mozilla's ssl capabilities through att's "i"
pop and "i" nntp servers.

The smtp server is imailhost.worldnet.att.net and the port is 465.

I would think that anyone testing should be able to get a response from
the server saying at the very least "invalid name/password".

Also note that I can successfully send mail to that server using stunnel
(the point being that the server is operating).

I filed bug 132559 on this, but have not received any responses.

Many thanks,

Ed
