If I understand you correctly you're trying to reassemble a binary that has been uuencoded and posted in multiple parts.
Maybe this will work around it for you: Try copying the messages to a new email folder, then copy the folder and name it <something>.uue and run winzip on it(presuming you copied the messages in the correct order). winzip(for windows) understands the pieces and will treat them as a whole file. I don't know what utilities are available for the other platforms.
