I have both Netscape 7 and Mozilla 1.0 on my system. I mainly use
Netscape but do have occasion to need Mozilla. I am using MacOS 9.22.
One of my employees who uses Netscape 7 decided to reorganize her email.
In the process she renamed a folder. As soon as that happened all emails
and sub folders contained within disappeared. Subsequent restarts and
compacting would not bring the emails back. However, if the name was
returned to the original name the emails suddenly appeared. When I go
into the "Mozilla" folder on my system drive and look at the mail
databases it appears that when the folder is renamed, in actuality a new
folder is created. Unfortunately, the emails and sub folders are not
transferred over. They remain with the original folder database which is
no longer recognized by Netscape.

The reason I am posting this on this forum is because further testing on
my system revealed that the same problem occurs in Mozilla. However, a
peculiar thing happens. If I make the name change in Netscape the
folder's contents disappear. If I then close Netscape and open Mozilla
the contents reappear. The same happens if I rename the folder in
Mozilla and reopen in Netscape.

Does anybody have any suggestions about what I can do after renaming a
folder that will leave all emails and sub folders visible without having
to close and reopen in Mozilla? While I have not had any major problems
by having Netscape and Mozilla share the same profile I can see a
noticeable difference in speed if I stay with one application instead of
switching.
