Dear all,

We are currently defining the first official version of the Mozilla LDAP
schema. This schema is partially different to what the Mozilla
export/import procedure produces and what was uses under Netscape 4.x.
For further details please have a look at the following bugs:

http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157928
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116692
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157925
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157926

So before we change Mozilla's LDAP implementation we want to know if
there is already a large community of people using a setup which is
aligned with the current LDIF export. In that case we would have to
think about an migration path. Otherwise we could much faster implement
the new schema. Each delay might increase the problem that people a
implementing a LDAP setup which is not compliant to the new schema.

(Before you start complaining why we haven't implemented the new schema
in a way that it is compliant with the the LDIF export/import structure
check the above bug reports.
[hint: to introduce a consistent structure])

If there is just a small group of people using a LDAP implementation
aligned to the Mozilla's LDIF format maybe we can provide a perl script
converting from the old format to the new one.

So we are looking forward to hear your opinion.

Cheers
Roland
