On 27 Jul 2002, it is alleged that Joel Nelson sauntered in to
netscape.public.mozilla.mail-news and loudly proclaimed:
> I can't send outgoing e-mail now in Mozilla 1.1b (1.1b release, not
> nightly). I installed some new Mozilla themes and now when I go to
> send e-mail I get told that I need to verify my server settings.
> They're fine, but it won't let me send. I can't save to draft either,
> and I checked -- my drafts folder looks fine in Mail&Newsgroups Account
> Settings.
> If you read this then at least it let me send newsgroups! Looks like a
> possible CRITICAL bug in theme handling.
> Short of deleting my accounts/profile and starting over, what can I
> do now?
I doubt it's theme related. You can revert to one of the defaults if it
makes you feel any better.
Check your settings again. In particular, check under Edit | Mail &
Newsgroups Account Settings | [account]: Advanced... Chances are
something's screwy with your SMTP server.
You could also go to Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Outgoing
Server (SMTP): Advanced... and get rid of redundant SMTP servers and set a
default, then under [accout]: Advanced... select 'Always use default
server' from the drop-down.
