On 29 Jul 2002, it is alleged that Michael D Richards sauntered in to netscape.public.mozilla.mail-news and loudly proclaimed:
>> I think he was talking about NNTP or S/NNTP (/i.e./, having different >> sets of NGs from the same server accessible as different news account), >> not POP or IMAP. You're talking about something very different (altho' >> http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41929#c8 would seem to fit >> this situation). >> >> You and flacco ought to get together, tho' I think he just wants >> multiple- identity/alias support; 41929 seems to be something a bit >> different. :-P > > Yes, multiple identity/alias support would be a *better* solution for > what he's trying to do, but lacking that he's trying to make multiple > seperate accounts (which is the typical workaround for that sort of > problem) and this bug prevents you from doing it. You're right, too; that /is/ annoying. It seems to be picking up on the server without any regard to 'user name' (whatever /that/ seems to mean; it seems to refer neither to display name nor to e-mail account, let alone to the combination of the two of them). Well, WTF?! That's a potential PITA. . . . /b. (who's grumpier and in more need of caffeine than ever). -- Mozilla end-user questions should be directed to: snews://secnews.netscape.com:563/netscape.mozilla.user.general snews://secnews.netscape.com:563/netscape.mozilla.user.win32 snews://secnews.netscape.com:563/netscape.mozilla.user.mac snews://secnews.netscape.com:563/netscape.mozilla.user.unix Note that you need to have SSL enabled and the port set to 563.
