I had what I believe was a corrupt .msf for my (IMAP) Inbox, which exhibited
the symptom that each time I restarted Mozilla it would reload all messages
received since 7/24, and labels I had set in a previous session on mail which
arrived after 7/24 would be lost the next time I started Mozilla. In an
attempt to repair the .msf by a method other than simply rebuilding it by
deletion (and losing all my labels in the process), I did the following:

a) Compacted all folders (by opening a local folder in a new window, bringing
up the "compact all folders?" dialog), then
b) Did a download/sync now (even though there shouldn't have been anything
   to sync).

It now appears my file is OK - labelling of new mail is persisting through
Mozilla restarts, and recent messages aren't being repeatedly downloaded.

Hopefully this is of some help in tracking down .msf-related issues...

Bill
