I am trying to use Mozilla 1.0 under Win98. I am successfully using
Netscape 4.7x with no problems to speak of. With Mozilla, I can browse
just fine but I cannot connect to my mail or news servers.

Due to workload (on me) when I moved at the beginning of the year I set
up one machine with Ositis Winproxy 3.0R1d which I had used previously
with cable modem until I set up a Linux router/firewall. To be able to
get the connecting message for the clients on the network, I have to use
the classic proxy and not a transparent proxy. Mail is supposed to be
routed through the Socks connection. This is fine with Netscape 4.7x.
With Mozilla, I get the message "The PASS command did not succeed. Mail
server mail.hxxxxxx.net responded: authorization failed". I am at a
loss as to what is going on. I know that my ISP is running Linux and
using qmail as the MTA. I don't know what the POP3 server is if not
qmail. I am in uncharted waters as far as I am concerned and need some
assitance. I probably have not given enough information, so ask for
what is needed to fill in the gaps.
