Hi,

I'm working on a patch for bug 2920. I posted a rough design overview
for it recently on bugzilla. I've done the initial work for the UI
changes; next up is removing the attachment data from the mailbox.

However, I'm new to Mozilla, and I have a couple questions about working
on bugs:

1. Should I assign the bug to myself? Is that the usual first step when
someone starts working on a bug, when no one else is already assigned to it?

2. What's the best way to get feedback - discussion, review, and such -
about a planned change before a patch is actually submitted?

Using IRC (#mozmail)? Newsgroups (netscape.public.mozilla.mail-news)?
Posting comments on bugzilla? Sending e-mails to the owner and peers of
mailnews?

It'd be helpful to get some early feedback, before going much farther
with the work, to increase the chances of the patch being useable and
useful.

(I can supply more info about the planned patch as needed.)

thx
