Both of my news services require authentication. When you set up the account you can indicate that athentication is required and you can input a username. You can't input a password until you actually connect (unlike the M$ product, that lets you specify a password for each account prior to connecting). I find this business of frequently telling the password manager the same username/password for each newsgroup in the same account a bit tedious, but haven't figured out how to install PAN on my system yet. It required a bunch of libraries I don't have, and installing from source is a new thing for me. I understand PAN is the way to go for a Usenet client on Linux. Frankly, I'm not too impressed with Mozilla/Netscape. I mean, they work... and even have a few nice features, but some of the programming concepts are kluggish.
