Hi Derek,
It's not a 'standard' feature. However, IMAP does allow you to set some 
generic flags on a message and it gets stored on the server. We are 
leveraging that to store the label information for the message on your 
imap server. That's why you see it ever where.

There is no such mechanism for pop. I bet your ISP mail server is using 
POP not IMAP which is why you don't see it there.
