I'm told that in NS7 the mail notifier will only work if Messenger is open or minimized. Unfortunately, even if it is open the notifier only stays up a short time as you mentioned, which to me is a big flaw. If you don't notice it right away you're out of luck. I ended up going back to 4.79 until some of the flaws in mail and newsgroups are fixed. I especially missed the fact that newsgroups in 7.0 doesn't support kill files. Sharon
