Assuming the recipient's client understands format=flowed, you can do it 
with plain-text messages as well; if it doesn't, it'll wrap as indicated in 
the prefs (/e.g./, the default is 72, which is a nice length).  No need 
manually to insert CR/LFs. . . .

Oh, and note that using longer line lengths in combination with MIME quoted-
printable can really make a mess of things, since quoted-printable inserts 
and EOL character.  It shouldn't take too much imagination to figure out the 
possible consequences. . . .
