Filters for newsgroups...

OK - maybe I'm not posing the question properly...

Is it possible to apply filters to newsgroups so that I may block myself from seeing posts from certain users. I have successfully created filters for my email accounts but if I try to create one for my news account I find that it is not avilable in the pulldown list under "Filters for:"

Anyone have any ideas?
