necko guide

im a student from Holland. Im studying a minor in webtechnology. And now 
we have to do a research  about mozilla. After the research we must 
teach the other students about mozilla.
one of the subjects we're gonna research is the net lib of mozilla. aka 
necko

first thing i like to know is
what is necko?!
y necko?!
And where can i find documentation about necko...... and i mean no code 
like i can find on the mozilla site
