Thanks for the advice, Boris. I had tried supplying the XMLHttpRequest.send() method with a nsIFileInputStream, but that just gave me an exception (...[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIXMLHttpRequest.send]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)"...)
