Something that surprised me VERY much was the previous NSPR4.DLL
(with Mozilla/2 0.9.0). Previous to installing it, whenever I
looked at the local library website, its images had those stripes.
But *after* putting in the previous NSPR4.DLL, those images were
now stripe-free !! (And I *don't* think they re-packaged their
images just when I upgraded nspr4.dll.)

This significant change, just from applying the previous NSPR4.DLL,
makes me believe that __Mozilla__ is doing things that aggravate
(or even cause) the stripey images problem. Maybe Mozilla/2 is
somehow INTERRUPTING the video driver before it can finish drawing
the image to the screen, and then when the video driver resumes,
it does so as though it had been drawing all the time, instead of
having been interrupted for a bit? (Notice how those stripes are
broad at the top, and on my system get progressively thinner later
on?)

mikus (using Matrox 2.54.130 video driver)

p.s. If I need to see an image without stripes, I use my "window
shade" button to roll up, then roll down, the Mozilla window.
This redraws the window, and those stripes are gone.
