Could be sed (running 3.02 here) substitution run amok or, more likely,
pwd (here I have the one in bash\bin first in PATH, as opposed to the
one in gnusutil\exe, for consistency with third one built into bash; the
gnusutil version output includes drive letter and colon, the other two
don't).
The problem's occurring around line 14200 of configure; look for the
line:
# Adjust a relative srcdir, top_srcdir, and INSTALL for
subdirectories.
