What's so special about these apps that when they crash they take down
the whole OS? Is there an X port of pmshell I can run on Linux? I
thought the idea was to fix these things so frequent reboots wouldn't be
necessary? Are you programmers rebooting all the time too?

Latest example: http://www.email.com/ (I think - too big a mess made to
be sure there wasn't a redirect in there somewhere). I wanted to adjust
my free email account to redirect mail sent there to my regular email
account. When all the info was input into the form I pressed a button
that said "update". Mozilla pegged activity meter, made the desktop
fubar (merging 2.02, 4.61, 0.9.5 & WarpCentre in random fashion), and
left nothing functional except CAD.
