I am using Warpzilla 0.9.6 I have a bookmark set for a local file, a mirror of a file on my website (this bookmark was in the Bookmarks file that the Mozilla installation copied from the prior Netscape 4.6.1 directory). The location is shown in the Bookmarks file as:
file:///d:\clan\index.html Netscape accepts this designation; when it views this file, it changes the backslashes to forward slashes in the location window. Not so Mozilla, which puts up an "Alert" message reading: "The file /d%3A%5Cclan%5Cindex.html cannot be found. Please check the location and try again." The location window reads: file:///d%3A%5Cclan%5Cindex.html The first conclusion was that Mozilla is incapable of viewing a local HTML file, a bug. But I found that, if I edit the bookmark manually to change the backslashes to forward slashes, Mozilla no longer chokes, and views the local file properly. The bug, then, is that the standard for slashes is different in Mozilla and Netscape, and that the Mozilla installation program doesn't know enough to accomodate the difference when it copies Netscape Bookmark files. -- Stan Goodman Qiryat Tiv'on Israel To send me email, please note that email addressed to "SPAM-FOILER" will not reach me, and will not be read.
