Yes, it does seem that a local flash file gets "downloaded" to
directory \temp\plugin.  I put that down to an ideosyncracy of
Mozilla.  But then that flash file __does__ move images around
on my Mozilla display, the way a movie would.  [I have only a
few .swf files on my disk, so I can't tell if sound is supposed
to play as well as video.  (Didn't hear any sound when I tried
the same .swf file with Netscape 4.61.)  On Mozilla, *did* get
video&audio from websites, when testing the Flash 5 plugin.]
