That is most likely due to changes in HTML. Netscape uses the "alt" tag to display hovering text over an image or the image file name. HTML 4 defines that "alt" be used to display an alternate text if the image is not displayed. For the hovering text, the standard supports the "acronym" tag wich provides the same functionality you were used to seeing with Netscape. Since Mozilla seems to respect standards a bit more than your average browser, I imagine it to be very unlikely to see the same behavior in Mozilla.
