It's been several months since I last downloaded MIDI files.
Just tried it with the official Release 1.0 (2002060216).

The most reliable way I got it working was to click on the URL.
Mozilla gives me the "What do you want to do with it?" pop-up,
I click on the button for "save to disk", and hopefully it works.
The bother is that I *don't* want "save to disk" to be the
default for MIDI files -- so I can't skip the "What do you want
to do with it?" step. [And I can't guarantee that doing it this
way *will* transfer the whole file every time.]

Problems:

 - When I click to request a download of a MIDI file, a small
empty window is opened on my screen. If the download will
be going ahead (random), the window disappears. If the
window does not disappear, I *know* the download will not
work -- and I have to 'close' the small window manually.

 - When I press <shift> before clicking (or if I use the RMB
menu), .html is appended to the (default) filename with
which Mozilla proposes to store the download. I know there
is an open Bugzilla problem against the common code, but the
fix is not scheduled for MONTHS and MONTHS from now, and I'm
not sure that __this__ symptom will be fixed.

 - Except (maybe) for the "most reliable" way described above,
the download RANDOMLY completes after 1K or less has been
    transferred. [ downloads.rdf shows StatusText="Finished",
Transferred="1K of 1K", even though the files were anywhere
from 50K to 200K long. (And when I *got* the file to
transfer, the 'Saving' window *did* show the correct file
size as the last number on the 'Status:' line.) ]

I did not want a plugin to interfere, so I deleted NPOS2MID.DLL
from my plugins directory, and restarted Mozilla. No difference.

I see these download problems with *all* .mid files.
