Addemdum. I have a few Java applets. One of them is a lunar lander
clone. It comes in a zip file named lunar1.zip. Unzip the file and
there is a html file, a class file and several gifs. The unzip.dll file
is not needed except to process jar files in the Java distribution.
Since this crashes Mozilla also, I can say with certainty that the screw
up is wholly in IBM Java distro. Since the Netscape and its plugin does
not cause this problem, it is the Mozilla Java plugin that is at fault.
Since is works on some machines, only means that some d***head again set
the wrong switches that produces bad code for the K6-2 chip. You would
think that if they had to fix the JIT for this very problem, that they
would have fixed everything in the distro......
