In the meantime I did some more experimenting, after I didn't find a today's 
build, so I picked the late one from yesterday, but got the same result.

Doing some mixed and cross-build installations, I found out, that something, 
still not closer determined, within \components\ is responsible.

Installing mozilla-os2-20021003-16.zip and using the files in \components\ 
from Mozilla-os2-0928.zip avoids the problems.

I tried the 2 October builds with a profile from Sept, 30, created with 
Mozilla-os2-0928, but will create another one with the Oct. \components\ files.
