Last February optimized EMX builds took about 4.5 hours with a PII-266MHz and 1.5 hours with a PIII-1.2GHz. VACPP builds always took about half an hour to an hour longer on the PII. As regards your CVS question, an update essentially runs a diff between the source on your machine and the tree at mozilla.org and patches your code. This normally takes less time than an initial checkout. Also, after an update you should check the cvs log for any conflicts and clean them up (see cvs manual for details) before building. h~
