Is there a listing of the problems you had with sites breaking, it just
doesn't make sense to me that this would happen.

Netscape user agent strings often change like Mozilla/4.79 for the 
latest communicator release, also not forgetting Netscape Nav Gold that 
used to have a user-agent string of Mozilla/3.04Gold
