Hey,

In ximian evolution, I imported my mozilla Inbox by chosing my Inbox file in my profiles directory.... And experienced a very very strange thing: Hundreds of Mails I have delelted almost a year ago in mozilla (also from the trash folder!!!) appeared again.. With content and attachments...
I have a daily newsletter which I read and delete immediatly... Each of them appeared in evolution, simply by pointing the import wizard to my Inbox file in my profiles directory

I am using linux with 1.3a version of mozilla currently (used older version a year ago of course)

Hey what's going on.. this is opensource.. when I say delete I mean delete.. don't want this browser to manage some nebulous data in the background !!!!

Hi Boris,

this is not a security topic but I will answer your question anyway.
In Mozilla deleted mails only get marked as deleted. They still remain in the files (and use disk space of course).
If you want to delete mails permanently you have to compact these folders (File -> Compact folders). Afterwards older mails will be gone and disk space will be given back.

Lars

I recreated over 100 Mails infected with KLEZ Virus.. I'd call it security problem !!! I thought that I got rid of these mails... !!?
I know now how to delete the messages, but thousands of people don't... I am sysadmin and know how familiar people are with their software... they are not !! and mozilla is used productively... if not mozilla, than netscape
