they came from being written by netscape folks... I'm not quite sure what the situation was, but mozilla didn't want that stuff in the mozilla tree at that time. the code has actually made it into the mozilla trunk a couple of days ago, although it's not yet enabled yet, but I guess it will appear soonish in the nightly builds and the 1.4 milestones... -- Michael
