Conceptually, they are close enough. Main difference is that XPCOM is
available on other platforms too, not only windows. Another major
difference is that XPCOM is not designed as a systemwide engine, but works
on per process basis. Shortly this means, that if you install NS6 and NS61
you probably get most of the things twice
