Which version (date?) of Mozilla have you been able to build PyXPCOM against on Linux (Mandrake 9) using the integrated build process, not the stupid makefiles? The 1.1 branch should work. Sometime between then and now the trunk stopped.
Ok, here's my details:
The eventual target platform for embedding gecko via PyXPCOM is Windows, so if anyone knows of a binary distribution of PyXPCOM, I'd be ecstatic.
Needless to say, being the cross-platform guy that I am, I'd like to also build PyXPCOM for Linux, esp. as we may move our target platform to Linux and/or OSX, so I don't want to have to re-tool my XPCOM application for the platform changes and also because I do most of my development in Linux.
I'd prefer to use the latest and greatest version of Mozilla, but it appears that the nsOutputConsoleStream class has been depricated out of the latest CVS, I can either try to fix it (and post patches) or (preferred) I can go back to the version that others report having success with building PyXPCOM. (And perhaps, later work on the patches.)
One day I will find the time to fix this - however, it is very hard to stay motivated when the many other patches I make for areas other than PyXPCOM just rot, in some cases for nearly 2 years.
So maybe I will just schedule this fix once all my other patches listed in Bugzilla get traction <wink/sigh>. It is no fun when everything seems to flow in one direction.
Mark.
