looks like you could do this:

  var browserContractID =
    "@mozilla.org/embedding/browser/nsWebBrowser;1";
  var browser =
    Components.classes[browserContractID].createInstance(
      Components.interfaces.nsIInterfaceRequestor);
  var browserPrint = browser.getInterface(
    Components.interfaces.nsIWebBrowserPrint);
  if (browserPrint instanceof Components.interfaces.nsIWebBrowserPrint){
    printWindow = document.getElementByID("print-panel");
    browserPrint.printPreview(null, printWindow);
  }

Your "print-panel" element must be either a <browser> <iframe> to work. 
In the past I printed a page by using document.write() to write to a 
<iframe> and then I printed the iframe using

<reference to your iframe>.contentWindow.print();

Unfortunately it is an iframe so that is not what is causing the error

Do you have any other suggestions?
