Hi, I need an interface to watch for updates to files. Is there an XPCOM interface for such a thing ? And if so is there also a javascript interface for this ?

I don't think we have an service for this purpose. You could setup a timer using nsITimer, and periodically you could check the list of files in a directory via nsIFile::directoryEntries. but, that is very crufty....
