The first time I ran the installer I needed to quit (the installation) during the component choice. Back to my PC I run again setup to install Ns6. The installation, anyhow, stopped (and still stops) when setup displays "Uninstaller for Netscape 6" as component currently being installed. I've found the installation start a sort of infinite loop (setup.exe takes an high percentage of the CPU resources for an indefinite time - until I kill the process) *before* copying N6Uninst.exe. All the files are correctly (I suppose) copied to the C:\WINDOWS\TEMP dir. I've taken a look to the CONFIG.INI install script, and I've not noticed anything strange about the installation of N6Uninst.exe except from the check for space available on the "WINDOWS" drive. I have 1/2 Gb free on my system hard drive and >1 Gb of space free in the HDD were I'm installing Ns6. I currently have installed Communicator 4.7x + Mozilla M18 + Mozilla Mtrunk nightly24/11. I know what you're thinking: Moz and Ns6 are conflicting.. but I've renamed \WINDOWS\mozver.dat, mozregistry.dat, and \WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\registry.dat so they shouldn't cause any harm. What else could conflict ? Something in the registry ? Isn't all the required keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Netscape\Netscape 6\ ? (so, not conflicting with Mozilla) I've tried to remove manually the installed files looking at install_wizard.log ; which for file:///C|/WINDOWS/TEMP/ns_temp/xpcom.xpi, end saying : Install completed successfully <--Arrgh !!! ** performInstall() returned: 0 Finished Installation 12/03/2000 17:55:25 The problem repeats again+again in the same way. (I also deleted the files in TEMP between one installation and the other) The installation I choose is the Custom one, with every component checked (except for the non English lang-pack). I think anyway this is not helpful, since the installation blocks before starting installing all this stuff. Please, someone could investigate and help me out? BTW: I think this could help to possibly squash a bug in the install program (if I've not missed some outstanding point).
