I think you're looking at a debug version... the shipping xpcom.xpi was only
a 700K download.

Would it be possible to download xpcom.xpi to use as the engine, and then
not install it? I guess you could make it a DOWNLOAD_ONLY component, but we
haven't actually tried using this to install non-Mozilla stuff. If it
doesn't work, and it probably will, it wouldn't take too much tweaking.
