How to install a plugin?

I currently have a script that works with Netscape 4 for checking the
version and installing the plugin if required.

But I am having problem with Netscape 6 in the it stops with no errors on
GetVersionInfo.

Has smartupdate changed or is there a different way.

Dose have a plugin install script or where I can find docs on this.
