I would like to get some clarification on the location of where xpcom files
(DLL's and XPT files) are
actually placed. In the past I had gotten the impression that xpcom or
plugins using xpcom go into the
components directory.
I am in the process of creating an XPI installer file for installing an
xpcom based application. In the flash
xpi file - the dll is placed in the plugins directory!!. What is the
criteria which decides if a DLL is placed in
either the components or plugins directory?. Normally in the past we have
been placing our DLL in the
components directory. Is this the correct formal method of where DLL's are
placed for just an XPCOM
plugin. Just wanted an official stance of why some DLL's are placed in the
plugins folder and why some
are placed in the components folder during the XPInstall process.
