Hello.
As you can see if you look at the headers, I am using an old netscape
4.7 newsreader to post this. I am an avid Mozilla tester, and have
posted many bugs and tested the fixes to others. I have used Mozilla
since 0.92, and have never had trouble with installs and upgrades.
Until today. I had been running 1.0 RC3, and I did the following:
- FYI - I am running Windows 98 SE.
- Used Add/Remove Programs to uninstall Mozilla.
- Deleted the directory C:\Program Files\Mozilla.
- Rebooted.
- Closed all programs.
- Used the task control window (ctrl-alt-del) to remove all
programs except Explorer and Systray.
- Installed the new Mozilla 1.0 (not RC3)
- Installation seemed to go fine.
The browser seemed to work fine. However, I was unable to get to any of
the other components -- no mail/news, no address book, no composer,
nothing.
I tried removing and reinstalling several times, even trying safe mode,
and even trying the net stub installer just for kicks, but every time
the behavior was the same. I was able, at one point, to force mail/news
to open by using the Start Menu and forcing mail to open, and it showed
my proper inbox, but then I was unable to open the browser.
So I thought at least I could revert to RC3. Wrong. I tried to go back
to RC3 which had been humming along perfectly and working fine, and it
exhibits the same problems.
PLEASE anyone with any idea, let me know how to get back working again.
MANY MANY thanks.

P.S. Please do not email me -- since my email is down and I don't want
to go through configuring my netscape for it... please answer here in
the n.p.m.xpinstall news group.
