Hello!
Sorry to address you directly that mail, but I Have a very big and
urgent problem:

I try to make an xpi file to install some binary files on my Macintosh
(Mac os 9) from Netscape 6.

It seems to work well with files without resource fork, but as soons
as I try to install a binary file with resources, nothing is installed
on my disk even after ASEncoding my files before putting them in the
archive file.
Finally, I tried many things:

1- Creating a Zip file with ZipIt directly on my Mac, including the
unchanged binary files:
-> It doesn't work, the files are copied on my disk but appear to
be Netscape application.
2- Creating a Zip file with a Window utility, including the binary
files AS encoded with a tool called "macbinconv"
( I precise that this method works fine with a SmartUpdate script
for Netscape 4.7). The result is that files are not copied, even if
the "Install Log" file says that all is OK!
3- Some mix of the 2 tries above.

I found in the newgroup that some ones managed to make working scripts
with a tool named "ASEncoder". I wonder if the problem is not that the
Apple-single format handled by XPInstall differs from the one handled
by SmartUpdate. I tries to download the ASEncoder project directly
from the web, but there is no way to get it completely (resources
included), and therefore I am completely blocked in my job.

Have you any suggestion ?

Thanks in advance,

Didier.
