it would not be of any use unless there was really a 12" of this track.

remixing.
actually it would not be remixing. it would be an extended mix. like it
used to be when larry levan etc did it. all they did was just extend the
album version to be more dj-friendly. like added some basic drum parts
in the beginning and in the end to make that track suitable for smooth
beat mixing. after a time, ppl started doing other versions of songs,
playing with song parts and samples. that's called remixing.
