little bit offtopic, but on the same subject, somehow :
i overheard discussion about windows XP on irc today..

<XXXXX> "Microsoft also could use the anti-piracy technology to
deactivate the operating system if a business customer were to fail to
pay fees under a new licensing plan,
under which customers must upgrade every two years. "

didn't catch where it was quoted from, but probably one of the
news-sites. anyway. it doesn't matter where it is from, or is it even
real quote. you get the point.. :)

a lot of people seem to be bashing microsoft for its hardware/keycode
etc scheme, even the hardcore-windows people are whining about it. this
registration thing will probably not go away, but i suspect that amount
of pirated windows xp installations will be huge compared to previous
versions.
