Surely sendmail reeled when thusly spake Jarmo Lundgren:

> >listen, that's 84 cents (or 93 euro cents). every hour. so

OK, here's how the Commie Radio System works.
it's a "Five-Year Plan for Broadcasting Freedom" (tm).

(this plan is covered by the Commie General License,
which I don't think Japi has posted to commie.oy.com.)

you know how many people are listening bcos you have
a web interface that you have to log in to. people
will do it, bcos they don't _have_ to pay for the
music. and this means you don't get hassled by Teosto.

you transmit from a club that wants free promotion.

you have a change bucket. and maybe also a mail slot,
so that people just passing by can also chip in.

(people can also transfer money to a bank account.
they're listening on their PC, and they have a web
interface to their bank, so prospects are good that
people will contribute a euro here, a euro there.)

every contribution gets mentioned on the air.
(hey, it's an easy way to thank people and stroke
their ego at the same time ;-)

all the time you know how many people are listening,
and you know how much the broadcast is costing, in real
money that has to get paid to Teosto as royalties.

if contributions are running ahead of expenses,
the DJ can buy a sandwich.

if contribs are running WAY ahead of expenses,
 the DJ can get loaded.

this creates incentives for good DJ'ing.
