Most of the switches are self explanatory, but looking through
--longhelp, I would like further help on a few of them:

    -m <mode> (s)tereo, (j)oint, (f)orce, (m)ono or (a)auto

LAME does not have a "dual channel" mode? Not that I would ever use
it, but I've just never seen an encode that didn't support it!

    -q <arg> <arg> = 0...9. Default -q 5

Where can we get info on the different noise shaping & psycho acoustic
algorithms used with each quality level?

What is the function of a VBR "routine", for example mtrh (and I don't
mean "what is VBR!), and how do these two differ?

-V n quality setting for VBR. default n=4
                    0=high quality,bigger files. 9=smaller files

What exactly is varied by the V setting? Does this set the maximum
acceptable quantization (noise) level?

--athtype n selects between different ATH types [0-5]

WHAT 6 types?! Where to find info on the different types.

--ath-adjust n ATH auto adjust types 1-3, else no adjustment

This ones got me completely stumped at to its real function.

    --adapt-thres-type n n=1 total energy or n=2 approximated
loudness
    --adapt-thres-level x ??

How are these related?

I have lots of questions about the PSY related switches, but I'll stop
here for now.
